Strategy
Five-Year Strategic Plan
In July 2021, each service and department finalised their individual Strategic Plans which will be used as a basis for prioritising and focusing their work during the next five years. These plans were used as the basis for creating Towards Tomorrow – Ahu ana ki āpōpō; Visionwest Waka Whakakitenga’s Five-Year Strategic Plan for 2021 – 2025.
Towards Tomorrow – Ahu ana ki āpōpō was made up of five priorities for the wider organisation. More than words, these five objectives became a statement of intent – tauākī whakamaunga atu – breathing life into the day-to-day mahi of each of our wraparound services. The five objectives were:
- Prioritising Kaupapa Māori.
- Addressing homelessness.
- Increasing community wellbeing.
- Collaborating for change.
- Resourcing for tomorrow.
The next five years
In May 2025, our Trustees, Tumu, Tumu Whakarae, and Executive convened to embark on the strategic planning process that will shape Visionwest’s next five years.
As we progressed on this journey, several significant themes emerged, each with a multi-year focus. Foremost among these were:
- The Campus Redevelopment Project, aimed at reimagining and redesigning our Glendale Road site with purpose-built spaces to support current needs and future generations.
- The “Project 500 Homes” initiative to expand our housing portfolio. This is already well underway, reflecting our commitment to address housing needs for those who find themselves homeless.
- Central to our strategy is our Te Tiriti Journey, with a dedicated goal to evolve into a fully committed Te Tiriti-centred organisation. This remains a paramount focus as we continue to honour and integrate Te Tiriti principles into our practices and operations across the board.
- We are also exploring the potential to broaden and deepen our Home Healthcare services across the motu (country), aiming to enhance our community health offerings.
- As we continue our journey to becoming a simply irresistible organisation, we are committed to creating meaningful work opportunities, fostering great management through leadership development, providing ample growth opportunities, cultivating an inclusive and flexible environment, and building leadership that inspires trust; ensuring our people thrive.
Of course, this is all still in the planning stages. The process will continue as more staff and other stakeholders provide input – we all look forward to seeing what else emerges over the coming months before the latest Five Year Strategic Plan is released towards the end of the year.
